WHY? We decided to create a new sustainable footwear with the collaboration of Infinit Denim and La Manual Alpargatera, to collaborate with companies we appreciate in a project with local impact.
Infinit Denim is the manufacturer of an innovative fabric recycled locally in Barcelona, made up of 30% post-consumer denim collected by them, 30% recycled pre-consumer cotton and 40% cellulose from sustainably cultivated forests.
La Manual Alpargatera, founded in 1940, provides knowledge of the product, artisanal production and the good work that have established them as a benchmark for decades.
WHAT? Respardenya seeks to give a more urban use to the traditional shoes, thanks to using denim fabric, the urban fabric par excellence. Its design is conceived to be footwear that can be used not only in summer, but also in the warmer days of spring and fall.
Four models are offered: with laces for man, with wedge for woman and tradicional shoes in unisex version.
HOW? Its design is based on traditional shoe models but introducing improvements, such as the elimination of metal eyelets to promote recyclability and reduce the carbon footprint. The insole has been removed to take advantage of the breathability of the jute fibers and the lower rubber coating has been maintained in order to waterproof and ensure durability in an urban context.
The thread used for joining the sole and the shoe makes the components very easy to separate.
We created a reusable bag produced in 100% postconsumption recycled denim fabric instead of the typical cardboard box to reduce
